Erastus

Erastus Johannes was born in March of 2008. He was an incredible answer to a specific prayer from Rachel.
Erastus Johannes means "Beloved" and "God's gracious gift". Erastus was a constant reminder of God's goodness and attention to detail. Now, we can say with Job, "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."
Erastus was a life-saver when it came to company. Many conversations were stimulated by this little guy. If we were unable to entertain, Erastus took over. If we were tired, no one noticed. When Erastus entered the room, young and old faces alike lit up almost invariably.
There was a bad habit that Erastus never gained freedom from, that of constantly accidenting on first time guests. Try as we might, we could never beat him to the draw. But, love covers a multitude of sins, so we overlooked this small fault. Our guests usually couldn't be too perturbed... they knew where our loyalty was.
Erastus was survived by an adopted family, and many friends who were touched by his life.
